[YONKERS, NY] Renowned liturgist The Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Robert F. Taft, S.J. will present the keynote address at an international academic symposium titled “The Past and Future of Liturgical Theology: Celebrating the Legacy of Father Alexander Schmemann,”  to be held at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (SVS), from January 29–31, 2009.

The Orthodox parish in Northern Ireland is moving from a chapel into a full-sized Church. The pastor there, Father Irenaeus is excited about the move, but also is asking from assistance from the Orthodox faithful worldwide. Below the fold is an excerpt from his letter outlining assistance needed in furthering the return of Orthodoxy to Ireland.

Sales of the Orthodox Study Bible Exceeding Expectations PDF Print E-mail

Conciliar Press has announced that sales of the new Orthodox Study Bible have been extremely strong. First available in February 2008, the Orthodox Study Bible is the first ever full-length presention of the Bible of the early church. The Orthodox Study Bible uses the New King James Version of the Bible as the basis for a fresh translation of the Septuagint text. The Septuagint is the Greek version of the Bible used by Christ, the Apostles, and the early church.

Stack Overflow Errors and the Curse Of Internet Explorer 6 PDF Print E-mail

Recently, we got word that some users of Orthodox Biz were experiencing Stack Overflow Errors when surfing the site. After looking into the problem, we figured out that some of our graphics were causing IE 6.0 to choke.

That's right - pictures. A few of our pictures were portable network graphics or png. Under some conditions, Internet Explorer 6.0 has trouble handling these kinds of pictures. We've fixed the issue, but this is a good a time as any to remind people - if you are still using IE 6.0 you are only hurting yourself!

Orthodox Biz has added video hosting to its list of services. Videos can be submitted by non-members, and are published subject to approval.

Videos can either be directly uploaded and published right from Orthodox Biz's own server, or linked in from a supported service like YouTube.

Whimsy and Grace will be in Long Beach from Jan11-16 for the National Needlework Market. Last year there were
1100 booths for display. We are introducing a line of small purses that we expect to be a big hit at the show.

Well, the upside of the server problem we recently experienced was that it gave us the window to migrate the site to PHP 5.0 That move opened up some new, really cool doors for us technically to enhance what our Orthodox Biz directory can do.
