|
Peter and Helen Evans are now available to give a seminar/workshop based on their book, "Get Serious: The Church's Stand on Contemporary Culture." The seminar will focus on the six topics covered in the book: Euthanasia, abortion, stem cell research and cloning, war, welfare and animal rights. Some of the questions we'll discuss are: What happens to us after we die? Haven't we progressed beyond the need for war? What will make me happy? If there is so much suffering around, how can we say God is compassionate? What does it mean to help the poor? Aren't all rich people barred from heaven? Are we just animals? These are just a few of the issues we'll address. Depending on the audience the workshop will be about 2 to 3 hours long.
Please contact Orthodox Speakers Bureau "http://www.orthodoxspeakers.com/peter-and-helen-evans/" to book the seminar.

Glen Chancy, the publisher of Orthodox Biz, is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Political Science and a concentration in Eastern European studies. He then taught in Poland for three years, bringing home a lovely Polish wife at the end of 1995. Back home, he reverted to the Pentecostalism of his youth, and took his Roman Catholic wife with him. His wife, Justyna, accepted this quietly for years. Eventually, she wanted out of Pentecostalism, and by then so did Glen. They visited a Roman Catholic Church for Mass, only to discover that it was unrecognizable for a traditional Catholic. During the service, Justyna kept demanding (in Polish), "Does the Pope know what these people are doing!" When female Eucharistic ministers helped dispense the Body of Christ, Justyna came very close to outright violence. Then, one Sunday morning they ended up at Borders for coffee and Glen saw a book in the bargain bin called Dancing Alone.... click below to listen:

Over the years, professional harpist, Maryjean Zarick has shared her music with other harpists in the form of printed books, but her newest publishing medium has gained her the kind of attention that really pays off. For about the last year, Maryjean has been offering individual sheet music as PDF downloads on her paid subscription website ParadiseHarpMusic.com. Through this website, her most recent creation, “Christmas Fantasy” came to the attention of Mark Anderson of the Seattle Chapter of the American Harp Society.
This chapter is sponsoring a competition to encourage the creation of new music for the harp. Mr. Anderson approached Maryjean about entering “Christmas Fantasy” into the competition. “This is just the kind of work we have been hoping to attract,” he told her. |
