"If You Love Me"

The Lord Jesus Christ entreats,

“If you love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15

And, “He that hath  my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21

The two main Greek words for “keep” in the New Testament both mean more than just to obey, although this meaning is certainly included. They also mean to guard and to preserve. May God richly bless you as you seek to study and to do His will (and to help inspire others along the narrow way of Orthodoxy).

THE COMMANDMENTS OF CHRIST JESUS

3. Ye must be born again. John 3:7 I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. John 14:6 Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. John 3:5

4. Receive ye the Holy Ghost. John 20:22

John 8:12 Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follw me. Mark 8:34

6. Continue in my word. John 8:31,32 Search the Scriptures. John 5:39

7. Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matt. 4:10 Rejoice because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:20 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves – this cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. – And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Luke 22:17,20,19 Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. John 6:54

8. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen. Matt. 6:9-13

12. Watch, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Matt. 24:42 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. Luke 17:25-28,36

When ye shall have done all those things which are commanded of you, Say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. Luke 17:10
