Rev. John Mason Neale and Rev. Thomas Helmore put together The Hymnal Noted in the 1800s.Hymnal

Originally published in 1851 and 1854, "The Hymnal Noted" includes over a hundred ancient and medieval Hymns, Sequences, and Antiphons of the Latin Church, in beautiful English translations, and set to their original Gregorian plainchant settings. This work, made available for the first time since its original publication, is here reproduced in full, with the addition of new Indices, an Appendix showing the historical origins of each hymn, and Neale’s "Short Commentary" on the original first part of the Hymnal (covering the first 46 hymns).
