I just got in a whole collection of children's books from Potamitis Publishing, and found myself blown away!

Not only is my wife a Sunday school teacher, but we also homeschool our 8 year old son. Quality Orthodox books for children are something we are constantly looking for. Our son is big into action/adventure stories, like most boys his age, so when I saw the title My Warrior Saints I was immediately intrigued. I checked it out online, but even the book preview (nice effect) didn't do this book justice. 

This book, along with My Prayer Book and the others I received, is simply a must-have for any Orthodox family with children. The books are filled with beautiful iconography that is at once approachable for children, but not cartoonish. That is a rare feat in publishing. Our son and daughter were mesmerized by the books from the moment they saw them. These books are simply the most beautifully illustrated children's books we have ever seen.

My Warrior Saints  shows each warrior with his icon, a short synopsis of his life, and then an inspiring story. Many of the warrior saints, like St. George, I had previously been familiar with. But quite a few were new to me, which just proves you are never too old to learn from a children's book. In fact, the beautiful stories and iconography will captivate an audience of any age.

We also got the companion coloring book which is just fabulous.

My Prayer Book has prayers written in big, bold letters in exquisite font. My son had no problem immediately using the book for his nightly prayers. The book has articles which help parents and Sunday school teachers explain Orthodox prayer. If you have any trouble getting your kids to pray, then get them this book! When you hold it, you can't help but pray.

If you give only one thing to an Orthodox child this year, then make it this book.

But we also got 12 coloring books - one for each month of the year with 16 saints in each. My wife plans to use them for her pre-school class since the coloring pages are large, and feature a short story from the life of the Saint in both Greek and English. 

As she said, "I wish all Orthodox curriculum was half as interesting and useful as these books!"

Quality Orthodox children's books made as unto our Lord!

The Potamitis' really strive to write and illustrate their books to the highest quality, work as unto the Lord. Their books are large format, top quality, and beautifully illustrated to hold even the smallest child's attention. I highly recommend their books. Saint Catherine is my family's favorite!
