Dear to Christ - Friends of Saint Philothea, the fatherless, and widows of Romania

Greetings in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!

January 9 - Saint Philothea Project sent 12 boxes of gifts to be distributed to orphans and other children in distress. We will go to Romania immediately after Pascha to visit each house and put the prepared packages in to hands of the children.

January 11 Plane tickets for the trip were purchased.

January 17 Saint Philothea Project assists an orphanage in Haiti with a monetary donation. During a crisis of this kind cash is the most valuable, flexible and easily transported resource. Money can be used to meet almost any need.

The Season of the Great Fast begins in a few weeks. This not just a time of strange food and long services. It is a time to remember the poor and remember Christ is present in the poor. The Church is replete with stories of laying up treasure in heaven by entrusting earthly treasure to be distributed to the poor. As we make our preparation for Lent, Pascha and our trip to Romania we invite you entrust us with funds to meet immediate and critical needs of orphanages across Romania. ProVita with over 500 children under their supervision always needs food, cleaning products and other thing for daily living. Saint Elijah House in Aiud has 20 families with no Paschal meal with their children. Alma su Mare has several teenagers that could greatly benefit from a bicycle. Dumbrava is always expanding to meet the needs of the 50 plus orphans. At Alba Iulia train station, the cantina for the poor, run by the Archdiocese, will need staples to help with the daily meals.

The Saint Philothea Project has no employees and all people involved pay their own way. All gifts are used to benefit orphans.

Andrea Embroidery is offering several premiums to express our gratitude for your gift.

Andrea Embroidery will Embroidering an Icon for every gift over $250.01. Andrea Embroidery has purchase the templates from a vestment maker in Romania for several icons including; Christ the Teacher, The Theotokos, The Annunciation, The Resurrection, The Descent of the Holy Spirit, Saint Parascheva, Saint Philothea. Gift of $150.01- $250.00 will receive a sweatshirt with the Orthodox Cross and Parish name and city on the left chest in gratitude for your gift. Gift of $100.00 - $150.00 will receive a tote bag decorated with an Orthodox Cross.
