Tara Concelman is a Behavior Analyst who works with families and also with children who have learning disabilities. Since starting her business, Home First Behavior, Tara has relied solely on word-of-mouth for acquiring clients. Looking to use the web to expand her business, Tara contacted CorFun looking for a website that would allow her to market her business, share links and books with readers, provide online forms for clients, and allow her to easily edit her own content.
Scott approached this project with the name and function of Tara’s business in mind. Having met with her to discuss details and specifications, Scott designed a logo that fit exactly what she had in mind. Her logo emphasized her work with children as well as putting “Home First,” as it depicted a parent and child outside of their house, all of which appeared to have been drawn by a child. With the logo design set, Scott researched and presented Tara with several custom Joomla designs for her site. After Tara selected her favorite option, Scott began working with her hands-on to get things looking just the way she wanted. A custom header was designed for her homepage, again reflecting the purpose of her business with its use of home-based imagery. Several components were implemented into her Joomla site to provide her with the features she needed. ChronoForms was installed to allow for easy creation and distribution of online forms. This was very helpful to Tara, who often needs to send out paper forms to clients. ChronoForms allows her to do all of her formwork online, eliminating the need for filing and recording information manually from clients. The component Web Links was also utilized in order to allow Tara to post links to articles, books, and any information she finds interesting or useful to all of her clients. With these elements all in place, Scott began working closely with Tara to get her familiar with her new site. He demonstrated how to use ChronoForms, how to edit and create content, manage images, and how to manage her links. After a short time, Tara was confident in her own ability to take control of her website. Tara, and many of her clients were all impressed and pleased with the finished product. "Scott is one of our best young designers," said CorFun CIO Glen Chancy, "His efforts on this project were top-notch. He got to know the client and her buisness, and then worked with the overall CorFun team to deliver a quality site which meets all the client's objectives. We couldn't be happier with the results." For this project, Lead Designer, Scott Baker, chose Joomla because it would allow Tara to manage her own site without much technical knowledge. This was very liberating for the business owner since it meant she would not have to rely on someone else to post the content she wants.
