The Rapture is a belief, near and dear to the hearts of millions of Evangelicals, who believe it to be the ancient teaching of the Church. (Evangelicals fancy themselves to be the actual church Jesus founded and entrusted to the Apostles.) But this teaching, as the Presbytera shows in this program, is actually not based on any text found in the Book of Revelations. In fact, the whole idea of the Rapture is just over 100 years old, and sprang the fevered imagination of just one person. This doctrine was never taught by the Apostles or the early church. It is a purely modern invention. In this podast, Pres. Jeannie discussed the origin of this teaching, and the truth of Christ's Second Coming as expressed in Orthodoxy. Amazingly, the podcast has generated 25 comments (so far) and has become the most listened to podcast of the past three months on the Orthodox Christian Network. Why? Because it touches on a serious topic that draws in both an Orthodox and non-Orthodox audience. Evangelicals who subscribe to the Rapture idea often look for more information about it. Imagine their surprise when Google has been leading them to an Orthodox Website! Orthodox who live in this culture need to understand how the Church views the very serious topic of the End of the World. Otherwise, we could easily find ourselves sucked in to this heretical belief system. Here is the program in its entirety:
