Let's discuss this article http://www.alliancealert.org/2009/03/09/barna-9-of-american-adults-have-a-biblical-worldview/. It says that only 9% of Americans have a Biblical worldview. Alot more think they are Christian and we've seen surveys where about 90% think they are "spiritual." What that usually means is they make up their religion as they go along. If any of you are upset by the changes our government is making, say with the federal funding of embryo-destructive stem cell research, or the so-called Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) that ensures the 'right' to abortion, then you might want to remember that politics is applied theology. That is, we get the poltics that our culture and world-view demands. Our culture reflects our belief or non-belief or made-up belief about God, our culture elects the politicians that reflect those beliefs and we get laws that institute those beliefs. How to the change politics? Change the worldview. It's a grass-roots effort. What do you think?

[Do You Have a Biblical World-view?]
Now I am raising cradle Orthodox, and I am consciously doing what the church says I should be doing. We pray as a family at the regular hours of prayer. We use prayers which have been written to ensure that they are proper. The children memorize the prayers, and learn the truths which are embodied. The children learn the Bible at home, with their parents. We read the lives of saints who embody the faith in their lives, and teach the children that Christianity is for all ages, not just 1st Cent AD.
We go to church on a regular basis and my son serves. We teach the Nicene Creed. It is a good introduction to the faith, so that my children (as the church intended) can understand that you must believe at least this to be even eligible for the term 'Christian.'
And we talk about the Faith all the time. I'm not bragging about this. We could be doing more. We really could. But the fact is that as a parent, I don't have to spend my time trying to figure out how to build a 'biblical worldview' in my kids, or myself for that matter.
This has all been worked out ahead of time. I just have to just sincerely do what the Church instructs, and I truly believe that (in most cases) the rest will take care of itself. The Evangelicals have no such toolkit, and so flap around from one fad to the next, unable to truly pass on any kind of lasting faith.
