CorFun, Inc., a leading provider of eServices on the Web, has announced a new suite of marketing solutions aimed at helping marketers tap into the explosion of mobile text messaging. To help marketers extend the reach and immediacy of their offerings, CorFun now offers Text Message Campaigns from a database of 25 million cell phone subscribers, Calls to Action to encourage potential customers to text keywords for more information, and sign up forms/private text mailing lists so customers of a business can sign up on a Website to receive regular alerts.
“Americans are hooked on their cell phones,” CorFun CIO Glen Chancy explains, “When you leave the house in the morning to start your day, what are the two things you always make sure you have? For most people the answer is – keys and cell phone. If you want to reach people, then texting them on their cell phone is the fastest, surest way to do it.”
“According to our research,” Glen continues, “98% of all text messages are viewed, and 90% are read within the first two hours. This fact correlates into faster and higher results for marketing campaigns than you can get from any other channel.”Henry Bentley, chief marketer for CorFun, puts the commercial opportunity in mobile text marketing by comparing it to a CorFun specialty – email marketing. “CorFun has been a leader in eNewsletter and opt-in mailing strategies for years. (Opt-in means the customer signed up to receive the emails from the company.) We have worked extensively mapping out solutions to get customer newsletters delivered to the people who want them,” Henry said, “But despite our best efforts, there is never a 100% guarantee that people who subscribe (opt-in) to a newsletter we’ve designed will ever receive it. Spam filters and other impediments to delivery block an amazingly high percentage of marketing emails. Just getting information into a customer’s in-box is a daunting challenge!” Henry continues, “Over 1 Billion Text messages a day are sent in the US alone, which means that nine times more text messages are being sent out than emails each day. And almost every one of them is reaching its intended audience. In 2008 businesses lost an estimated $500 million dollars in earnings because of lost opt-in emails. These are messages that customers wanted, asked for, and never received. Mobile Text Marketing promises to change all that.”CorFun, of course, does not plan to discontinue email marketing campaigns. CorFun customers report results from them that are far better and more cost-effective than from traditional advertising methods such as the common newspaper ad.But as the marketplace is changing, CorFun plans to position itself to capture new opportunities that can complement and improve on email marketing campaigns for its customer businesses. CorFun’s new mobile marketing solutions are designed to capture of the power of the emerging mobile marketing channel. Among the services now offered:
